    VENDING.

I fought a vending machine today and lost. It took my yen. It mocked me with its blinking lights. I just wanted a hot corn soup! Is that too much to ask from the universe? I stood there in my perfectly tailored vintage slacks and yelled at a metal box for five minutes. An old man walked by and just shook his head. Yes, oji-san, I am a disgrace!

    EXHAUSTED.

Train. Work. Biga Bosso. Train. Sleep. Repeat. Is this it? Is this the grand adventure? I am wearing my sharpest 1950s suit today and nobody even noticed. I am a stylish ghost haunting the Tokyo metro. I need a change. I need a shock to the system. Maybe I’ll get a tattoo. Or just eat spicy ramen until I hallucinate. Probably the second one. It’s cheaper.

    ICE CUBE.

Back to the freezer. My breath is fogging up my laptop screen. I am typing with gloves on. Typing with gloves is an extreme sport. Yuo llok lijke a tiot! See? That was me trying to type “You look like an idiot!” I am an idiot! A freezing, lonely idiot in a foreign country! W00t! Feel the chill! Send me thermal underwear! Send me a bonfire!

    THE STARE.

Another day, another blank stare from the corporate zombies. I try to bring the energy! I say, “Hey guys, let’s crush this!” And they look at me like I just asked them to eat garbage. 虚無の海を泳ぐ。(Swimming in the sea of nothingness.) That’s my work life. A sea of nothingness and bad fluorescent lighting. I’m going to the arcade to destroy some digital aliens. They are the only ones who understand my rage.
