GREY.
The commuter train is a sea of black coats. I wore a camel-colored topcoat today just to spite them. No one cared. We are all just cogs.
Walking to 7-11 for coffee. The streets were full of loud people in cheap costumes. Then I saw her. The girl from the river. We passed each other in the cold air. She smiled at me. Just a quick, small smile, but it felt like the first real thing I’ve seen in weeks. The grey broke for a second.
